U.S. stocks were in a mixed bag on Monday as investors looked forward to Nvidia (NVDA.US)’s quarterly results on Wednesday. The DJIA faded 55 pts or 0.1% to close at 43,389, on the third trading day of losses. The Nasdaq reversed its early bearishness and closed up 111 pts or 0.6% at 18,791. The S&P 500 added 23 pts or 0.4% to close at 5,893.
Tesla (TSLA.US) spiked 5.6% after U.S. President-elect Donald Trump's team was reported to be looking at ways to unwind regulations on self-driving cars.
Apple (AAPL.US) and Netflix (NFLX.US) rose more than 1% and nearly 3%, respectively. Nvidia's full-day decline narrowed to 1.3% after reports of overheating problems when Nvidia's Blackwell AI chip was connected to a server, while the market waited for its quarterly results on Wednesday to reveal demand for the Blackwell AI chip. Advanced Micro Devices (AMD.US) soared 3%.
Super Micro Computer (SMCI.US) rallied more than 16% at conclusion after it was reported that it intends to file an annual report to avoid being delisted.
